Royal Institute of British Architects - RIBA Venues
Many of our installations provide us with a challenge and during our last visit to the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) we were tasked with fitting four loudspeakers in the Florence Room. This room has a high ceiling and the whole interior is subject to listed building status so we were not allowed to run cables that were visible. Also the loudspeakers were not to be seen. So we specified 4 x Electrovoice 12-2 full range concentric 12” which were to be fitted into some old blanked off circular holes in the ceiling. The new loudspeaker installation kit was of no use so we manufactured speaker custom joist brackets and metal rings.
Royal Sussex County Hospital A& E
As part of our activities we are the official Induction Loop service supplier for Brighton and Sussex University NHS Trust at the Royal Sussex County Hospital where there are nearly 40 systems in place. The main A & E reception has recently been upgraded with a security glass scheme and they asked us to fit a “through the glass” system manufactured by Contactor. The unit was installed with the Reception area still operating with our staff carefully working around the busy receptionists.
L3’s Maritime Division is part of the large L3 simulation group and the maritime offices in Burgess Hill asked us to provide an upgrade to their AV presentation and video conferencing systems. We fitted large LED display monitors and interfaced them to existing kit. The work also involved supplying furniture and we provided a complete solution for their requirements.
East Sussex National Golf Resort
In the National Suite at East Sussex National Golf Resort’s main venue we have added to an earlier installation by providing additional stage lighting and control. The venue is used for a wide variety of events and conferences but unknown to most visitors is that beneath the stage are stored two theatre organ keyboards. Both an electronic Allen and a Wurlitzer pipe organ are used for regular concerts. The new lighting used in conjunction with the video systems we installed give concert goers an opportunity to see clearly the organist’s techniques.
The new Source Four Junior Zoom profile spots with Anytronics control have increased the experience of seeing professional organists playing the two theatre organs.
Corporate presentation using 65” screens
As part of our service we delivered all of the AV kit to carry out the presentation and set it all up for the client. Using a Kramer switcher/scaler the screens were interfaced with existing in house facilities.
Blind Veterans UK in Roedean near Brighton
We have done an upgrade to the paging and room sound system using digital equipment throughout one floor. Our TSPro manufactured bespoke panels have been interfaced with BSS digital processors in a total of 14 rooms to enable paging messages and six channels of radio and TV audio to be accessed in individual rooms.
Seasalter Christian Centre in Whitstable
The audio visual systems at this modern building needed some care and attention. Two front projectors were replaced with new Epson EB-1945W projectors connected to the existing wiring. These new projectors have Wi-Fi facility making them ideal for independent front of house presentations without the need of a technician at the main control desk. Other work done was re-positioning loudspeakers for better coverage, stiffening the front stage lighting bar and using another projector on the back wall for use as a stage monitor.
Seasalter Christian Centre are now a regular client of ours for all of their audio visual and stage lighting requirements and back up.
Christ’s Church Lewes AV challenge
With nowhere to hang the video projector and the screen being fitted into a corner at an angle we supplied and fitted a Epson EBX25 video projector which had good lens shift at a budget price. A specially designed video projection bracket was manufactured by TSProfessional to accommodate fitting the projector from the side wall. The result was a brighter picture than using the old projector which had been floor mounted with the inconvenience of it being moved each time it was used.
Bishop Hannington Church Hove
have had their main lounge refurbished and we up graded the AV system with simple control available from an Allen & Heath IDR system.
AV Upgrade at Kings Church in Lewes
The Kings Church in Lewes is now firmly established in their new premises and the old video projector was showing its age. So we removed the old projector and replaced it with a Mitsubishi XL7100U 6000 lumens video projector with security cage as well as updating the inputs which now include an Apple TV. We also fitted a small “in the wall” amplifier as a sound system with an existing video projector facility in a nearby conference room. The AVID2 system fits neatly into a standard two gang socket box and has facilities for connection of laptops and other devices as well as Blue Tooth connectivity. It is supplied with a handy infra-red remote control. We installed the amplifier together with two flush ceiling loudspeakers.
St. Clement Church in Hastings
A major refurbishment of the grade one listed 14th century church in Hastings has just been completed. We were contracted to provide AV facilities and put in place are a series of network cables for future AV screens. However, the sound system has been the subject of a major upgrade using K-Array equipment. Eight KK52 line array element variable beam loudspeakers have been provided at the front of the church. These have been discretely mounted in two rows of two pairs in the arch of the main columns.
Major upgrade at Holy Trinity Church in Hurstpierpoint
Three new meeting rooms with a gallery area resulted in an up grade to the sound system in Holy Trinity Church. Six new Electrovoice Zx1 loudspeakers have been installed for the choir, front fill and rear fill positions. In the new meeting rooms Electrovoice EVID ceiling loudspeakers and Apart OVO box loudspeakers have been installed. All the new loudspeakers have been connected to an Electrovoice CPS4.5II multi-channel power amplifier and controlled by an Electrovoice DC-ONE management system. The original BOSE Panaray main front loudspeakers have been incorporated with the original Soundcraft audio mixer. The audio mixer has been relocated in a central position within the church in a custom built operating desk. At Holy Trinity Church we rewired the stage box system to incorporate an additional ProCONN satellite box for use by music groups. New Audio Technica hanging microphones have been installed for the choir. These were put to good use when the Bishop of Horsham visited a very packed church for the first full use of the facilities at the end of April.
Collyers College - Horsham
We have completed the automation of the major refurbishment of the AV and stage lighting facilities in the Duckering Hall.at this major West Sussex sixth form college. A new 11 speaker surround sound system using Electrovoice Loudspeakers with 5 x 15” front full range EVF, 2 x 18” sub bass and 4 x EVID 6” rear speakers controlled by an Allen & Heath IDR system gives a full “cinema sound” for use with the new 4 metre wide video screen. New stage lighting is now almost all LED on a new large ceiling mounted prewired aluminum grid system. Professional stage curtains have been added with a separate cyclorama track and the old window blinds have been replaced with full electrically operated black out blinds. In the control room a Zero 88 Solution 48 lighting control desk is used alongside an Allen & Heath QU16 digital audio desk. Operation is available for the complete system under Demopad control using wireless devices requiring no access to the control room which was a requirement of the college to allow teaching staff easy access without the use of technicians.
Blatchington Mill School
More interactive SMART whiteboards and ultra-short throw Hitachi video projectors have been fitted to upgrade older equipment in a number of classrooms. We have also serviced and repaired a number of video projectors with the work done during the summer holiday and half term to minimise interruptions to the education programme.
West Ewell Infants School (WEIS)
Our installation work included a new AV and stage lighting installation at the new Main Multi-Purpose Hall recently completed at WEIS in Surrey. Working closely with Primus Build Limited we provided a scheduled programme of works to match the progress of the building work. Eventually this culminated in the final fix of a video projector, large projection screen, stage lighting on a large grid and a sound system all accessed by wall facility panels.
St Wilfrid’s Primary School, St Christopher’s Primary School
Digital systems from QSC Audio and Yamaha
We originally specified an update to the sound system at Burgess Hill’s St. Wilfrid’s Primary School main school hall used for performances, teaching and morning assemblies.
This busy school asked us to review our proposals as they wanted “simple” operation for multiple users.
We re-specified using Yamaha commercial audio equipment and now the teaching staff can easily operate the sound system from a simple wall mounted control panel or an iPad.
At St. Christopher’s School in Hove we supplied a TouchMix from QSC, a portable digital mixer with lots of options that can be easily operated from an iPad. In both cases the equipment space used is very small and easy to use.
Bell Farm School in Hersham
Our work to update the AV facilities in a number of schools in Surrey continued with a new video screen and projector installed in the main hall at Bell Farm School. The existing sound system equipment was neatly tidied up and fitted to a new portable flight case. The existing stage lighting control desk has been incorporated into a pull out drawer in the case. Quick connection of the system is made using one of our custom made ProConn facility panels. The school now has a secure and easy to use system, where as before separate pieces of equipment and numerous cables presented a daunting challenge to teaching staff.
